Danette J. Ross

Founder and chief executive officer of Solomon's Way, Ms. Ross has been mediating cases for over a decade and has extensive experience as a mediator, consultant and trainer. Her areas of practice include family, workplace, domestic, civil and mental health care conflict management.

Ms. Ross holds a master's degree in conflict resolution from Concordia College and University, and has received training in adoption, family and basic mediation and in arbitration. Formerly employed at the Association for Conflict Resolution, Ms. Ross also works in the public sector as a court-appointed family or adoption mediator for Howard, Calvert and Baltimore counties in Maryland.

She is currently involved with a national mental health initiative to reduce/eliminate seclusion and restraint in state mental health facilities as the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) consultant/trainer and mediator. She became involved through the National Technical Assistance Center (NTAC) and the National Association of Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD), in April 2002. This effort has also enabled her to assist the Collaborative for Conflict Management in Mental Health (CCMMH) to further ADR strategies and techniques in the mental health field, and the California State Mental Health Hospitals with a training in 2005.

Ms. Ross has relocated to her hometown of Martinsburg, West Virginia, and hopes to promote awareness and use of ADR/mediation services throughout the tri-state area in a variety of practice areas.

Education and ADR training: Master's degree in Conflict Resolution and Bachelors in Business Administration, Concordia College and University, 2000; adoption mediation training - Conflict Solutions, 2002; basic and family mediation training - National Institute for Conflict Resolution, Annapolis, MD, 1998; arbitration training - National Future Association, 1999; and many conferences, workshops and training opportunities, 1999-present.

Professional affiliations: Member of the Maryland Council on Dispute Resolution (MCDR) since 1998; Member MCDR Certification Committee and Certified Mediator/Evaluator since 2002; MCDR Board Member, 2001-2003; former member of the Association for Conflict Resolution 2001-2004; former member of Association for Conflict Resolution Maryland Chapter 2000-2004.

Community Volunteer: Former Team Leader for the Christian Conciliation Team (ADR Division) of From the Heart Church Ministry (FTH) a congregation of over 27,000 members, Ministry of Justice from 1998-2004 and worked with youth and adults as Coach/Organizer for FTH's Sports & Fitness-Tennis Division from 1996-2004. She was an active member of the Fairmount Heights, MD, Neighborhood Watch Program from 1999-2004; Founder/Organizer-Word of God Productions - programs and events since 2004.
